Car Drivers Should Be Aware That They are in a Machine That Can Kill-Strict Liability for Car Drivers

Kill someone with a gun or knife and go to jail.  Kill someone with your car and you may get a few points off your license or a small fine.
Many European Countries have laws that say the larger vehicle is presumed to be at fault for any collision.  This means when a car driver hits a bicyclist the driver is almost always at fault.  Because of these laws, bicyclists in these countries are safer on the roads and drivers of cars drive much safer when they are around a bicyclist.

The United States should pass similar laws.  People are always afraid of "getting in trouble," and if drivers knew that they would be at fault almost every time there is a car vs. bicycle crash, drivers would drive in a much safer manner.
