Candadian Mayor Compares Bike Lanes to Swimming With Sharks

The Mayor of Toronto Canada says, "I can't support bike lanes." He claims bicycling in a bike lane is like swimming with sharks, "sooner or later you're going to get bitten."  "Every year we have people who get hit by cars or trucks, well, no wonder, roads are built for busses, cars and trucks."

My response to him: I can't support overweight people who don't exercise. Being overweight and not exercising is like swimming with sharks. Sooner or later you're going to get bitten. Every year we have people who are overweight who die of heart attacks, diabetes, and other diseases. Well no wonder, obesity and a lack of exercise lead to increased chance of death. Fortunately, Wisconsin is not following Canada's lead regarding roads being only for motor vehicles. Wisconsin has 12 bicycle friendly cities including recently named Stevens Point and Onalaska, WI.
