Park Tool has come up with a patchkit that requires no glue, and no waiting. For $2.45, you get sandpaper and 6 patches. While I personally prefer to have a tube and Co2 along on rides, I do sometimes take a patch kit if I don't have a tube, or I will patch my tube after getting back from a ride rather than throw it away. The good thing about riding Wisconsin roads is that there isn't as much debris on the road to puncture tires as there are in other more populated areas.
