A new Women and girl triathlon series sponsored by Trek is expected to draw 25,000 participants this spring and summer. The series will include 12 races in 12 different cities and states. Wisconsin will host one of the 12 races in July 2009. Each triathlon is expected to be sprint distance format and selected cities will include "youth focused" triathlons.
The series is aimed at getting more females into the sport of triathlon. This will be a great opportunity for females new to the sport, and also a great opportunity for experienced triathletes to help out by volunteering and encouraging a great first race for the newbies.
